The Effect of Daily Growth Hormone Tgerapy in children wiht Growth Hormone

Abstract
|
|
|
Prospective study was conducted to evaluate the effect of daily growth hormone therapy in children wiht central growth hormone deficiency. Study population consisted of 16 chilren with idiopathic or secondary grwoth hormone deficiency aged 4
to 15
yrs-old. 1.7 unit per kg of recombinant human growth hormone have been injected daily just before sleep for 1 year, and body measurement along with bone age and serum IGF-I was followed up at 3 months interval. And following results were
obtained:
Annual height velocity(cm/yr) was significantly increased to 10.4±3.2 during 3 months after injection from 3.1±0.9before injection, and height velocities during 6.9 and 12 months were 9.5±3.0, 8.8±1.3 and 8.7±1.1, respectively, And this
increment is higher than that by twice weekly injection of growth hormone.
It can be said that the effect of growth hormone therapy in chidren with central growth hormone therapy was excellent and the height increment by daily injection may be higher than that bt twice weekly injection, so that daily injection
method
is recommanded.
